Have you been wondering
what’s happened to the
jams and chutneys?
The classic and much-loved recipes from the WDA are still the flavour of the month! A joyful team headed up by Leila has been gathering every Thursday morning in the kitchen since January and this year they have a stall… at the buzzing and successful Chega Junto / Junta Local market which happens on the last Saturday of every month in the gardens of Christ Church. So as not to run out of marmelade before the market even starts, we would be grateful if devotees could phone or email the church office beforehand if they intend to pop over during the week, or, even better, just turn up at the Chega Junto market. It will take place on Saturday 31st March from 10am til 4pm but we would hope to have sold everything well before then.
If you’d like to find out how to make some of these classic items, or would like to bring something new to the table, then all are welcome to pop along on a Thursday morning and don an apron. We will be writing more about how to get involved in due course.
Finally for those of you who were at the BCS Christmas dinner and heard about Iracambi, the fantastic and gritty NGO working to conserve the Atlantic Rainforest headed up by Binka and Robin le Breton, then we will also have their coffee (shade-grown and roasted by a local mineiro collective) on sale at the market. It’s delicious and always makes for a great gift too.
