“An estimate has been obtained for band and food, based on a minimum of 250 people, (…) that would total Cr$12,500, plus hire of the Hall Cr$800, plus tips for Hall servants Cr$200. However, in view of the large donations made by the BCS to the Establishment of Christ Church (i.e. Chairs, Cr$9,000,00 and painting, Cr$4.000,00) the Committee feels that the Hall should be loaned and not rented to the Society on this occasion. Considering the difficulty of persuading the Community to attend such functions the Committee is of the opinion that entrance should be free and that the Society should stand the expense (The General Fund would be used for the end it was originally intended – to entertain H.M. Navy on its visits to Rio.”
